Wayne Ulrich, author of Meadowbrook Stories

About the author

Wayne Ulrich

I’m an educator, vocational trainer and assessor, community development practitioner and, more recently, a children’s author. I live in Australia.

For more than forty years I’ve worked alongside people from all walks of life, helping them learn, grow and discover what they’re capable of. That work has taken me from classrooms and community colleges to correctional centres, community outreach programs and humanitarian projects around the world.

I’ve worked with young people finding their direction, adults learning new skills, jobseekers looking for work, and people going through hard times. The best part has always been the same: watching someone discover an ability they didn’t know they had.

Along the way I learned that lessons stick when they’re engaging, encouraging and connected to real life. That’s what led me to Meadowbrook. Whether it’s a worm riding a bicycle, an ant flying a jetpack, a kangaroo building a treehouse or a ladybird running a bakery, each story is there to spark curiosity, build confidence and show that courage, friendship and determination turn up in unexpected places.

When I’m not teaching or writing, I volunteer with community and prison ministry programs, and I’m usually working on new ways to help people learn, grow and thrive.

Every book happens somewhere real

Meadowbrook is one connected world. Characters wave to each other across books, and the places grow a little older with every story.

  • Dotty’s Delightful Bakery where Book 1 begins
  • Rainbow Hill for stargazing with Stella
  • The Community Centre home of the Emergency Radio Club
  • The Turtle Rocket Club launch pad and workshop
